IMPORTANT FACTS

June 1993 Georgia became a member of the International Maritime Organization.

July 1994 Georgia joined to 15 international maritime IMO and UN Conventions 

September 1995 - Georgia joined to 10 international maritime IMO and UN Conventions. 

1997 Maritime Code of Georgia was adopted and entered into force, has been twice examined by IMO and EU experts and is the first codification of maritime legislation of Georgia.

HISTORY OF MARITIME TRANSPORT ADMINISTRATION

In 1997 restructuring of executive authority of Georgia took place and Maritime Transport Administration was established on the base of the Maritime Department in accordance with the President's Decree. Until January 01, 2002 it was a part of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Georgia.
